Went to the Pioneer store local for me here at South Coast Plaza.
They have a Elite Kuro playing all day the same Xbox NFL game preview and they also have another one in the conference room as their computer screen so they do put their screens to intense use.
Burning pixels/screen is apparently no longer an issue at all, the GM at the store mentioned about a "cleaning pixels" mode that takes about an hour and you can run it at the end of the day if you think it is necessary.
Retail is $6499, their price is now $5499 till the end of the month. I really think I am going that direction, trying to find the best deal out there.
Thank you all for your input.

Plasma TV, LCD TV, DIRECTV and HDTV Accessories - Plasma Concepts is a good site. I have bought a number of plasmas from them in the past. I think you can find the 50" for under 3k shipped and the 60" for under 4k shipped.
As a side note, I checked out the new Sony XBR8 models the other day and was VERY impressed.

I guess I am still skeptical.
If one of you can assure me that you can leave a Microsoft Word document full screen two pager on the TV, with white background and black lettering, with no screen saver, for 8 to 12 hours at a time (when working from home), then I will feel more comfortable looking at a Kuro next time.

The Elite is arguably the best TV atm. The XBR8 and 9-Series round out the top 3 in no particular order (9-Series supposedly has more LED elements, XBR8 has Sony's unrivaled video processing).
This guy, the B8000, is coming out soon though (it doesn't have local dimming unfortunately, and I am uneducated on edge-lit LEDs):
- 240hz
- Video streaming over WiFi, including MKV!!!
- Look at the thickness
