Ferrari Enzo Successor rumored with V12 this time by Autocar
#1
Seems strange because they just posted an interview with Felisa few weeks ago where he said it will be with TT V8. My personal guess is that, as I was told, both engine options V8 TT and V12 NA are in progress for Enzo successor and the decision will be made before the production. In any case we have lack of information about this F-car, so I thought I should post this article.
Ferrari: 'V12s are safe'
Ferrari and Lamborghini are both holding back from turbocharging the engines for their next generation of top-line supercars because of the traditional preference of their customers for normally aspirated powerplants.
Although Ferrari is widely expected to adopt turbocharging for future generations of its V8 models, its boss Amedeo Felisa has hinted that the next Enzo will continue to feature a V12 powerplant, possibly mated to an electric motor.
“That is why we are developing hybrid technology,” said Felisa. “Hybrid means we can protect the V12.”
Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann confirmed that while the firm was investigating all the major engine technologies, it currently has no plans to introduce turbocharging as a way of reducing CO2 emissions and preserving performance.
Instead, Lambo intends to pursue fuel economy gains through lightweight materials.

I didn't/don't think there will be a V8TT in the next Enzo successor. Yes, the F40 had it but there are too many customers I would think that would want a V12...Hope they go through with a V12 in the Enzo successor.

Yes, there was information that Ferrari confirmed V8 TT. This could mean two things - this could be pure speculation or Ferrari really switched back to the V12 NA and this could happen for different reasons - turbo lag problem is not fixed, customers still want great sounding V12 NA, also Lamborghini with their latest V12 for Murcielago successor. I guess we have to wait and see, if this model will go into production early 2012 this means that we can expect it to be shown soon enough.

Ferrari's supercar doesn't need to be a V12. Look at the 288 GTO and F40. A TT V8 would make as much power, and be lighter, and get better MPG's. Plus is easily tunable. From what I read to today Ferrari has said a V12 will stay, but they think in the rest of the line, not the supercar. Remember when the F40 had the TT V8 the Testarossa had a V12....

IMO the truth is that both engine options were developed for the Enzo successor. And I guess that final decision is yet to be made. I think it will depend mostly on customers and on efficiency.

If that is true than I don't see how they can not use the V12. If they don't use it now they probably will never be able to use it again. We all know that turbos are the future so I wouldn't be surprised if we see them in all future generation Ferraris.
