Yeah, that first vid is amazing. Can't get over how good that thing sounds.

The straight through exhaust, the turbochargers whistling, the straight cut gears....

What's the difference between an LM and a GTE?

 

Not much, the GTE was made more so for the later BPR racing series rules. Different spec engine, and a few bodywork changes. There was also a GT, made for the Italian supercar series. It looked the most like a "regular" F40. All three were very similar, but the LM and GTE are more closely related then the GT.


The LM had the most versatile engine if you ask me.
With restrictors: 720 bhp
Without restrictors: 760 bhp
Set on high boost mode: 900 bhp


So for IMSA it could run the restrictors, for BPR/Le Mans it wouldn't run them, and for qualifying in those two series they could run on high boost mode.

The LM was clocked at Nardo at 229 mph, and that is with a ton of downforce. 0-60 only took 3.1 seconds as well.
