So, the day after the show everyone is talking about Top Gear and Clarkson.....mission accomplished

When Clarkson called the F40 the greatest modern supercar I'm sure Mclaren F1 owners or Enzo owners may have disagreed...and it stoked conversation and interest in the show. The GTO comments are just Clarkson straining to be original and controversial. In the end, splitting hairs on a track is just that.

My advice ? Drive a GTO and form your own opinion

....and the 599 GTO remains the fastest Ferrari that FERRARI has ever tested around Fiorano...not thus weeks version of the Stig

I'm surprized by this video. I do have to agree though, I'm not a fan of all those computers "like driving a laptop". Seems like the car was drivng him not the other way around. Given I will probably never drive a GTO or any of its competitors (hint hint Jas) but going by video and article reviews I'm not a fan.
But my god I can't take away anything from that sound of the V12.

Jon, I assure you that the drive experience is anything but sterile or "computer detached"...that assessment may truly be one of Clarkson more laughable statements.

The last thing on your mind as you scream through the gears, V12 wailing, shifts banging in, and outside visuals reducing to a blur...is "boy this really feels computerized"....ummmm, no

Trust me I'm not taking anything away from the car. Personally I'm more of a stick shift no helpers kind of guy. That's why I love the CGT and F40, they are so pure. With your collection and driving experiences if you speak up the GTO the way you're doing so I'm sure it's a very special car and I hope you keep on enjoying it along with the rest of your stable in the best of health. Just know when I visit I call the GT3 rs.

I don't think the 599 GTO's strength lies in short handling tracks like the Top Gear track. Take it for a spin around the Ring and see if the 458 keeps up...
