Beijing 2010: Ferrari 599 GTO, Pics a Plenty!!

I respectfully disagree. Obviously the looks is a matter of taste and there's no point in arguing about that but the paddles absolutely make sense.
If you mount them on the steering wheel and you drift and need to make some really fast wheelturns you immediately lose track of which paddle is which. That makes it impossible to shift while drifting. Trust me there's no time for looking down at the steering wheel and figuring out which paddle is which while drifting. With the large fixed paddles it doesn't matter where your hands are or if the steering wheel is upside down, you always know which paddle is which and thanks to the size you can always reach them with your fingers. I think Ferrari's paddles are the best around right now.

I admit IF someone drifts, the paddles could be tricky but thats why the brands that use the SW mounted system also leaves a gearshift lever with push/pull system on the center console to allow the driver to shift as he/she likes during drifting or any other single hand requiring scenario..which I believe is he best solution for all situations.

Lock to lock on an F1 car is quite less than lock to lock in a road car - this is why in a road car this is hands down the best way to attach the paddles. And, from spending time in cars with them fixed both ways, there's absolutely no comparison as to which is more convenient/easier to use.

I'm totally with you. Ferrari's sales success comes overwhelmingly from their 8 cylinder range.
The 12 cylinder cars have always seemed to lack that magic that lamborghini has always seemed to find.
In Australia this car will cost 1 million dollars and i just don't see the attraction.
