The Ups and Downs and Ups of the 250 GTO

While googling I came across this article of Michael Sheehan:

By the late '70s the collector car market had started to blossom and prices were rising. 250 GTO S/N 3757 went to Nick Mason, drummer for Pink Floyd, for approximately $86,000 in 1978. In the early 1980s Ferrari prices continued to rise, and Joe Marchetti paid what was then the unbelievably high price of $285,000 for 250 GTO S/N 4091.

I can't think of many things that could've been a better investment than to have bought a 250 GTO in the 1970s. Simply incredible.

it's good to know that the money spent on Pink Floyd music helped with the purchase of this fine vehicle.. thanks for sharing

I feel proud to be as huge a Pink Floyd fan as I am knowing the ties to vintage Ferrari's Nick has. Such a beautiful car! Thanks for sharing!

Not sure yet - I'm going to the factory on Monday to see the car and look at the options (of which there are a lot)
