Ferrari 599 Hybrid first photos!
"With just a few days separating us from the Geneva Motor Show, the list of surprises continues to dwindle. The latest victim is the much-anticipated Ferrari 599 Hybrid which the automaker has confirmed will appear in Switzerland next week.
The shots appear to have been taken from the show stand, so there's no hard information to go off of yet. What we do know is that Ferrari will employ a version of its Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) that originally debuted during the 2009 Formula 1 season on the 599. The system captures energy normally lost to the flywheel under braking, sending a boost of energy to the wheels when the driver hits a steering wheel-mounted button. Judging by the size of the battery pack, it's doubtful that the 599 will be able to operate on electric power alone."

For example, the new Lotus Evora eco-411-whatever concept for Geneva uses a dinky little 1.6L engine to power some monster electric motors to deliver 400 bhp to the rear wheels. That's pretty monstrous, especially when you consider the torque that comes with it. Along with that, Lotus has "programmed in" a 7 speed transmission of sorts to make it more engaging to drive as opposed to just stomping on it and going until the motors run out of steam.
In any case, I think there is a lot more potential to hybrid and electric drivetrains than most car guys care to admit. Not saying it's better or worse than a convential IC engine, but it's certainly something to think about.

It's not a bad idea, but I'd put the R&D into it and put the platform in a child company before putting my supercar brand on it.
Think of all the mutant sports cars that resulted from the 70's gas crisis that gave their brands a black eye.

...... I am not going to pass judgment on the car until the official press release and the unavailing. But really did they had to paint it green, seriously. I kinda knew they would but was praying they would not.
