The Value of Handcrafted Jewelry and American Manufacturing
With so much having changed over the last thirty years we've been in business, the skilled hands of an experienced jeweler and the value of manufacturing domestically often go unappreciated but are both quintessential to understanding luxury and quality.
Inexpensive overseas production has strongly influenced technology, fashion, and the ways that jewelry is sold today. This competition has left many consumers wondering why there's such a price difference for two rings if they "look basically the same." The true jewelry lovers and connoisseurs, however, know exactly what sets them apart.
One ring was made on the other side of the world by workers getting paid incredibly low wages, in unsafe and inhuman conditions, where their main focus is on quantity. The other was handcrafted by one of Sasha Primak's unbelievably talented jewelers in the USA, in our advanced New York City design studio, and was made one at a time, just for them.
The price differences that forced many jewelry stores to start buying overseas are now beginning to fade away due to more regulations being enforced at home and abroad. Labor rates have been slowly rising in Asia, as have our import tariffs, freight charges, and therefore the cost of inventory commitments has also increased.
Supporting American jewelry manufacturers shows your patriotism and that you support fine craftsmanship and fair value. To truly understand the advantages, you must be distinctly aware, first of all, of the jewelry quality but, just as importantly, you need to know about the way it's made, by who, and how.
