You are correct, it's actually an VT wheel.

This was/is the exact wheel (picture below), which was a VT Roadster with SV wheels on it which had a VT wheel on it to show what it looked like with white wheels. Then it was sold to me.

looks like he has clear rubber pads in a few spots on the wheel lip to hold the glass on.

Those photos are from 2007 and they have clear nubs attached onto that glass, and the glass would just sit on top of the wheel and not secure it. This wasn't ideal because you couldn't put heavy things on the edges without it shifting.

I currently have better clear nubs that attach to the rim and stick to the glass. I found them at a hardware store, but they weren't exactly easy to find. (they aren't shown in any of these photos)
