I'll highly recommend claying over polishing (if you were to choose only one, at least for now)... claying will remove a lot of the stuff that will not only make the paint feel like sandpaper over time, but also get loose and scratch it... nothing like a freshly clayed surface, even though it may be swirled up

If I claybar it do I also need to wax it right away (i.e.- the same day?) or can I wait. I'm assuming claybar removes dirt and other crap along with the wax as well?

Yes you should wax after doing a clay bar... it's usually good to do either polishing or at least a wipe down with something stronger than a regular QD just to ensure you get off all of the clay residue, etc.

I'm going to save this project for a day where I can spend a few good hours on it. I looks clean now but when I touch the paint I can tell there are little bumps all over even after a fresh wash. Thanks for all your help. Now I just need to get my exhaust tips clean and shiny.

Take a plastic ziplock bag, put your hand in the bag and run it over your paint. You'll feel all the contaminants in your paint with this method. THis will tell you if you need to clay. If that doesn't work, just sell the car. But keep those awesome wheels.

You can clay and not polish, but you can't polish and not clay.
