Rolls Royce Phantom steering wheel restoration using Swissvax Leather Healer

The steering wheel of the 2006 Rolls Royce Phantom that I recently did a complete restoration of was showing some significant signs of wear which needed to be addressed.

Here's how the wheel looked initially ( after a full cleansing using Swissvax Leather Cleaner Forte )

In order to address this issue, we had to find a Swissvax Leather healer that most closely matched the black color ( the owner did not want to wait 8 weeks for a custom leather healer ) and then tested it in a small area to ensure the match. After fully cleaning the leather, the Swissvax Grinding Pad must be used to make the surface completely ( or as much as possible ) level again and to remove the marks from abrasion. Then Leather Benzine was used to "open up" the pores of the leather. Thereafter, a couple coats of Swissvax Leather Healer F034 (Blue) were applied with about 10 minutes of drying time between each coat. The wheel was allowed to sit for 2-3 hours, as per the Instructions, and then Swissvax Leather Glaze was applied to ensure that the dye was sealed in and would not wear off anytime soon. This is a permanent fix that will not go away unless the surface is abraded, scratched, or otherwise abused and is subject to wear and tear just like any other leather surface.

Here's how the wheel looked when finished!

That's all for that one!

Thanks for looking!

Whoa ... I wonder what causes so much wear! Looks like he bit into the wheel repeatedly!
