The 30 owners of BMW's matte-finish Frozen Gray M3 coupe are reportedly being required to sign an agreement acknowledging that they won't hold the company responsible if they screw up their car's paint. No agreement, no car. Lawyers, ho!

According to a post on the Bimmerfest forums, this is how you care for BMW's matte paint:
- Never polish or wax the frozen gray paint as it could lead to a glossy surface.
- If washing your frozen gray M3 in a automatic car wash, choose a car wash that does not apply vehicle wax.
- Rinse the M3 with high pressure water to remove dirt before sending it through the automatic car wash to avoid scratches from sand, dust and other micro-particles.
- Remove bugs, bird poo, tree sap, tar, fuel spills or oil immediately using a soft sponge.
- Avoid strong rubbing (Mom always said we'd go blind! —Ed.) while cleaning the frozen paint. BMW sells suitable products for maintaining the frozen paint at your local dealer.
- Repairs to the paint (scratches, dents, etching) must be completed by a BMW-trained body shop. Most auto body shops will not be capable of repairing the frozen gray paint.
- The agreement also explicitly states that the warranty does not cover your paint if it is damaged as a result of negligence, lack of maintenance or proper care, environmental damage, or improper repairs.

I have heard and understand that. I took delivery of my FG M5 about 6 months ago before any knowledge on paint care besides basics (clean off containments and no wax/wax polymer shampoo).
Thank you though.
The biggest lead so far is Swissvax Opaque.. currently under testing. Looking for somebody who has tested it on a matte paint WITH a matte silk clear coat (bmw's clear coat system)

Matte or Satin Finish Paint - do not polish or wet-sand a matte clear, as the flattening agents that cause the matte appearance (textured finish) by diffuse 30 degree reflection are retained very close to the clear coat surface.
By levelling the surface the light will be reflected evenly and result in a ‘shine’. Use a rotary polisher and an ultra soft, zero abrasive cut (Lake County CCS Concourse Gold (100 PPI) foam pad) with a mild chemical paint cleaner (Zaino Z-AIO - All in One) it will remove surface marring and leave it satin matte. Use a clear polymer (Zaino Z-CS - Clear Seal) the key is to add surface protection and depth without adding gloss.
Swisswax - Opaque Wax- a premium wax specially developed for all satin matt paintwork types. It offers your car's paintwork thorough long term protection against all kinds of negative contaminants without damaging its satin matt appearance (durability TBA -to soon to provide real info).
