Full color change?
#12
Chris - I know there is a thread on here somewhere where someone did a full color change with a wrap. Would that do what you want to do, and still leave you able to return to the original color when ready to sell?

+1 go for a wrap instead but a good wrap job could cost you $3,000 - $5,000.

in my neck of the woods a full paint job like that is going to cost you 15 to 25K, if u have to take the entire car down to metal. Ive heard of people spending 50K on a job like this and als 75K. I priced it out locally, and 15K is the best price i was able to get and thats from a close friend.

You're on the right track, but it'll probably be a 2011... (or 2012 if it's a 998)
Of course, you already know exactly what I want to spec.
I don't want to do a wrap - I was hoping for something a little more permanent. Thanks again for the input!

I'm probably one of the few, if not only person on this board who has painted cars from the ground up before (all hotrods). To do it right the cost will vary by shop and how long you want your car locked up in 'paint jail' as it's commonly called. Typically you are looking at 6-8 weeks and somewhere between 8-15K. I know that's a wide range but it really depends on the shop, the quality of work, the materials, the turn time, etc. If the factory paint is in good condition it would be fine to do a D/A sand job of the existing paint rather than take it all the way to metal. Most shops will not manually remove paint these days as it's quicker and cheaper to send it to a sandblaster. Unfortunately do do this right you have to take it to the shell and pull all the glass which is a major job and big $$$. Probably not what you had in mind.
If you go down this route at some point PM me and I'll help as much as I can. Getting a good shop to do the work can be very difficult these days. I would stay away from the big high volume shops and stick with a small specialized place. You don't have to pay through the nose with a smaller shop if you do your homework.
PS - if you ever pay over 25K for any paint job someone is taking you for a ride (excluding body repair/custom work). Some of the nicest hotrods I've ever scene in person that have one national awards were painted for around 20K.
