VW v6 TDI press release [image/story heavy]
I got the call last month that I would be traveling to Raleigh and VIR for another VW press event.
It started on a Monday. It was a boring day over all, just a bunch of running around.
Tuesday the other guys from California and I got started on the detailing. It's really odd how these events go. The cars are typically brand new. This was the first time we weren't working on cars that were brand new and the only copies in the world. In this case they had about 3k miles on them. Whenever the cars are driven anywhere they get hours of attention. It is expected that they have no dust on the interior, the carpets are always vacuumed and raked, all of the pollen(that was insanely heavy) is cleaned off and glass look perfect. It is the most glorified basic clean ever. Each car sees about 10 hours of attention through the week for just that basic stuff(including claying and wax). It's crazy.
Here are the Touaregs as we saw them when we arrived.
Before this picture they all had a huge decal on both sides. We removed them from all but the executive's rides.
We stayed at the Umstead in NC once night and saw Jordan and his F599 staying with us. Tag said G23.
Our work areas which were much nicer than normal. We usually work in a tent or a parking deck.
One of them being worked on by Evan.
The interior was just as nice at their v10 tdi big brother.
Once the Touaregs were cleaned up they were moved to the airport where the media would pick them up and take them to the next location for all of us, Berry Hill Plantation in South Boston, VA.
Some sexy beast working on a Touareg cleaning off the crap it accumulated in 10 miles.
Cleaned up.
On the way to VA we saw an accident.
Berry Hill Plantation. This place was so nice. :cool
Here are the Touaregs presented and ready to be photographed and taken on to VIR where VW had a nice day planned for the media.
The Touaregs lined up at VIR in VW's lot.
VW had a very nice tent set up at VIR. I had never been to VIR and it was a great experience. We enjoyed awesome(free) food and all the Red Bull we wanted.
The three detailers who ruled the detailing roost last week. Frank, Jean-Claude(me) and Evan.
TDI cup cars. It was funny watching them race. There was absolutely no noise.

You too can own a Rolex car.(for sale)
I found out that Ariel Atom's US plant is at VIR.
It was another great event. I got to spend some time at VIR and see some semi-famous peeps. I most likely will be going to Seattle next month and Montana in July. Seattle doesn't really appeal to me. But Montana for a Subaru event will be a blast I bet. Thanks for checking out my story.
Please, do not repost these images anywhere else.

Unfortunately, not. I would have loved to do even the parade lap. But the other detailers and I were off walking around when the call came for all of the v6 tdi's VW's to do laps.
