1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible fetches $3.2 million
Saturday's Mecum Dallas auction saw a new world record set for Corvette's as the sale of a L88-spec 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible fetched a cool $3.2 million! Why is this Corvette so special you may ask? One letter, and two digits -- L88. Only 20 of them were produced for the C2 run. This option code turned the Corvette into a production racer as noted by Autoblog. It gave the Vette a 430hp race motor, super-beefy transmission, revised suspension and power brakes, and positraction.
This option also required owners to use race fuel which is indicated per a warning sticker stuck to the center console. This sticker was still in tact at the time of the sale.

This is a trend across the collector car market... cars are selling for record prices.
I believe that this will only increase as second and third world countries create more millionaires and billionaires that become car lovers.
