Dukes of Hazzard General Lee to be auctioned off
The first General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard will be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson with no reserve
The very first General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard television series will be up for grabs at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona next month. Out of the 321 destroyed during the filming of the famed series featuring Bo and Luke Duke constantly being chased by the law, this one is officially documented to be the 1st. Essentially ever other General Lee built was a replica of this one up for grabs. Unfortunately after the series came to an end, she sat for 23 years in a Georgia junkyard before being rescued and restored to its original condition. As it turns out jumping 16 feet in the air wasn't very good for a charger's health.
According to Inside Line:
This 1969 Dodge Charger was designated "Lee 1" during the 1978 production of The Dukes of Hazzard's pilot episode in Georgia, this Charger was featured in wrecked condition in a subsequent Dukes episode and then left in Georgia to rot in a junkyard until 2001. Retrieved and purchased by Travis Bell it went through another set of owners before being purchased by Marvin Murphy. Murphy than had Bell supervise the restoration of the car to its condition immediately before the jump.
