AG is definitely the way to go. On the upper end of what i'll spend on jeans, about 80-100 bucks a pair, and they are really soft. I've got a light pair that is perfect for casual stuff. Darker Diesel and 7s are cool to go with a button down, but I completely agree with the lack of room in the Diesel and the button up 7s are a hassle too.
True religion is a little in your face for my taste, but in the south a guy has to be pretty toned back in most of the jean choices.
