I didn't realize the default setting is sport exhaust off. I'm checking with someone to see if that can be changed. Does anyone know?

I'm still 1st on the M5 list with my local dealer though so we'll see...sometimes shopping is more fun than owning.

Drove the GTS yesterday. very impressed. coming from the Panamera S, the GTS is really a good package overall. the extra power is not that noticeable but the sport exhaust sure made the car feels faster. the alcantra, full leather interior, Sport Design kit, sport exhaust, air suspension, Turbo brakes etc are all standard, which made it like a great deal.

i'm waiting to try out the M5 too but i think i'll get a GTS at some point in the future.

If you hit 'sport' or 'sport plus', the car will automatically turn on the sport exhaust, but it will start up without the sport exhaust. You need to turn on sport exhaust independently by pushing the sport exhaust button. Then the car will start up in with sport exhaust on, and the sport exhaust will stay on.

I've been a BMW guy for 12 years and put 130,000 miles on my E60 and was first on the list for the F10. I picked up a GTS a week ago and couldn't feel better about my choice. The GTS is a sports car that acts as a sedan when you want. The M5 is a sedan that acts as a sports car when you want. Depends what you want.

I don't agree at all. Noone in their right mind could honestly think a 5 meter long 4-door saloon weighing 2 tons is a sports car first and a sedan second.

None of them are real sports cars, which doesn't mean they can't be great at what they do.
