Porsche has announced that the Porsche Panamera Turbo has been selected as the official safety car for the 2011 ALMS (American Le Mans Series). The second photo in the set published here is of two Porsche Cayenne ALMS Emergency Response Vehicles which will be on stand-by in case there's any trouble at any of this season's races.

That there's no engine tuning involved for the 4.8 liter turbocharged V8 of the 500 PS / 368 kW Porsche Panamera Turbo says something about the car's ability to keep pace on the track.
