Knocking sound when braking

When I apply the brakes, specially when its wet I get a knocking sound from the drivers front side. It doesn't always happen though.

Took it to the dealer they want to replace the front disks but I'm not convinced that's the issue.

I replaced the front disks at around 40k or so, im at 69xxx now.

any advice?

Its an 04 S

Stoppie?

Turns out I misread what they wanted to replace, its not the discs but the control arms.

are the control arms covered under warranty or just normal wear and tear? thanks!

Control arms may be the source of the problem- and more specifically the bushings within them.

Hard breaking will cause them to "shimmy" back and forth. This may cause the knocking noise. Others may also experience a slight vibration through the steering wheel under breaking or accelerating in the 60-70 mph range.

If the control arm is bent and replacing it fixes the problem, be sure to have an alignment performed.
