Panamera Owners - Happy?

No, I'm not thinking of buying one, but my mother is looking at the Panamera 4S and turbo. She is also considering a Quattroporte or one of the Jaguars.

So,....how's the first year of ownership going? Any problems? Would you buy it again?

I have an S with 4,000 mi that I've had since the end of March. To say that I'm in love with it would be an understatement. I'm not sure how old your Mom is, I'm 40 and it's the most fun I've ever had behind the wheel.

Problems? Yep...it's in the shop now. But I prepared myself ahead of time that there would be, so I'm not upset aside from missing driving it. It's minor, I got a PSM failure warning 3 times and they are replacing something in the steering module.

Would I buy it again? Absolutely. The Maser will probably spend more time in the shop anyway and the Pana interior can't be beat. I am not a fan of Jaguar styling but they are very reliable. If she goes with a 4 or a Turbo, do not let her get it without Sport Chrono.

I'm told my mother is 39 but since I'm 47 I get confused on the issue.

I wondered about the Maser reliability....hmmm. She likes the Jags because she had several sedans back when the design was IMO nicer. OTOH, the Jags weren't terribly reliable back then including the one that spontaneously combusted (thank God it was in the driveway and not the garage!).

Sport Chrono....yes, I will make sure of that.

One of the dealers here is selling the 2010 cars for about 20% off which seems like a good deal.

I'll keep the thread up to date.

THANKS

Dave, if you love your Mom, which I'm sure you do- tell her to stay away from the Quattroporte. She'll be over that car like a flash in a pan.

The Panny is easy to drive. Aside the key issues, random navi system's shutting down and this seat belt recall- the cars have performed extremely well.

I have a client whom has logged no less then 23k since new, and hasn't had one issue. Not to mention how many Porsche dealerships there are in the Country versus Maserati dealerships. - And forget the conversation about resale- depreciation that one will enjoy on the Maserati's.

I'd rather have an S550 over a Quattroporte, or 7 series. And I hate the new 7.

Have her look at the Panamera, get a test drive if its comfortable for her then its the best car. If not then try the S-class.

The Maserati is only reliable if you drive it like an Italian i.e. pin it. I had one and surprisingly it was faultless.

No comment on the Panny though.

If your mother is also blind, she will love it.

Saw one in person in the south end two nights ago and it was better looking than I thought it would be. I say go for it.

you gotta throw a Benz in
While this is the most painful thing I've typed in a long time

"I agree with Stoppie"

I wouldn't tell anyone to grab a MB but while the QP imho is the best looking of all the sedans it says nothing to me while driving it. Plus the endless issues my friends that have owned them have gone through I wouldn't recommend one to an enemy.

I also totally agree with Alex I just don't think the Pan is good looking at all so while I'm sure it's fantastic like Porsches are I think she needs to be blind to completely enjoy it

Would I go to hell if I went on record to say I'd rather have an E63 over a Panny?

Please don't shoot me.....LOL
