That first pic shows a genuinely interesting car. I think the problem is when you get the profile view and the slanting rear window (like the black one behind the burgundy in the same pic)

As long as you're looking at the car at an angle - and get the impression the rear wheels have hips and the roofline is more of a sedan - it's got presence and a certain element of power. Once you spot the slanting roofline (à la 911) it ruins it for me...
