New Porsche 991 GT3 is only available with a PDK and purists like me who love the good old manual clutch are disappointed...

But according to the Manager of Porsche High Performance Cars, Andreas Preuninger, the company’s upcoming upgraded Porsche Cayman is set to be dubbed the Porsche Cayman GT3, and the 'RS" version might have a manual clutch exclusively

what do you guys think about ?

That would be great but i do not know if Porsche interest to do this.

 

Herd the same rumors about three weeks ago and have been unable to confirm it. Everyone I have spoked to with Porsche says this is not true mainly because Porsche is not going to build any Cayman model that competes directly with the 911. After driving PDK I could care less about a manual transmission and I think Porsche feels the same way. IMO manual transmissions are a thing of the past.

 

The thing you have to remember about what is different is that Porsche management is no longer calling all the shots. If VW tells them to build it because there is a market for it, they are far more likely to than in the past.

One thing bout the 981 is that the engine compartment is much larger than the 987. Take that for what it's worth.

 

I also don't believe the man in charge of the gt division would deliberately make up lies.

 

Show me where he said it. Either video or in print and I might believe it.

 

My understanding (about a year ago) is a new Porsche racing series would be started with cayman GT4 class set up
This has been shelved some time back...
