I'm sure the salesman was exaggerating to an extent because I doubt he wanted to talk about his earnings. But that is what he said, and was probably a metaphor for "a whole ton of commission". And FWIW he owned a 993 Carrera. Not in the price range of the 997, but still not a company car, and it looked gorgeous.

You can make a comfortable living selling just about Any car if you are good at what you do.

thats probably true..but that car salesman earn 300,000US Dollars as somebody was writing ..no way.

"Selling 4 C-GTs and that put his children through collegue"..? no way..maybe for the annual text books + some other small expenses.

I think you all have some wrong ideas about this business- in europe competition is more fierce than in US - salesman at Porsche dealers earn average (just because your selling Porsches doesnt mean mucg) -yes some own a Porsche too - but usally not the most expensive one..and they spent all their money on this one Porsche.

Most dealers make more money on service, parts etc..organising Porsche parties at golf courses or whatever. There is currently in Germany for example a battle going on which dealer offers more reduction on new Porsches...up to 8% - or even more are there..you think dealers still earn a lot of they are forced immediately go down by 8%?

In Switzerland 2 years ago - Porsche had to subsidise dealers..othwerwise they would have gone bust (due to the too strong Swiss Franc)..the ones now in Italy, Spain, Portugal etc...arent earning much either..

As a result does that put anymore money in the sales person or just more profit for the dealer.
