2013 Porsche Cayman set to debut at LA Auto Show
November can't come soon enough!

We've been spotting the next generation Porsche Cayman testing for well over a year now and it appears the wait is almost over. As the good folks from Automotive News Europe report, the new Cayman will debut late fall at the Los Angeles Auto Show in and hits showrooms by year end or early 2013.

As it did with the model it replaces, the all new Cayman resumes most of the traits of the recently revealed Boxster, adding the fixed roof and a different rear profile.

The range of power-plants will identical that of the roadster, featuring the 2.7 and 3.4 liter six cylinder boxer engine. No word on an "R" Variant but knowing Porsche they will squeak a few special editions out for us to enjoy.

The Cayman will debut the same new innovative technical solutions as the boxster, such as lightweight aluminum frame, electric power steering, dynamic engine mounts and more.

 

Can't wait.

 

I think it looks too cab-backward for my taste; sort of like a Crossfire-Cayman; maybe (hopefully?) it's just the camo.

What is the weight expectation for this? Sub-2900?

Hope is a good word. The new boxster s only has 310 I doubt it will have much more.

 

It'll most likely be 330 or 325 but not 350 boys and girls. No way.

 

330 tops I'd bet - base Carrera has 350 hp. But if the weight is low enough it'll be a good platform to mod.

 

My guess is 325-330 on the HP. The R is 330 so it should end up in that range. Snuggled up nicely behind the base 991 Carrera and at the top end of the previous gen Cayman. I considered waiting for this instead of buying my R and I am starting to think I definitely made the right decision. But...I am still very excited to see this!!
