My old Lapis Blue / Savannah Beige 986
This was my old 2003 986. Nothing special done to it (grey side markers), but I loved every minute of it. I gave it up a couple years ago and now I'm back in the market for a 997. This is a pic taken in Malibu in January in 2004 (it was 95 degrees outside in the middle of winter).

Get it if you...
1) don't mind having a small car, you can fit 2 people and small lugguage (trunk in the front and back)
2) don't want to spend the money to get a Cayman or a 911
3) if you want decent gas mileage = 19mpg in the city
4) want a 2 seater convertible and want the most bang for your buck (in this price range I think it's better than a z4, S2000, 350z roadster)
5) like a solid exhaust note...
Don't get it if you...
1) think that because it's a Porsche it's really fast (even the "S" isn't that fast) 0-60 in around 6 seconds +/-
2) want a luxurious roadster - this is a sports car
3) are really, really tall, it's not that big inside
I hope this helps. They are very affordable if you get one that's pre-owned. I loved mine and see myself getting another as a toy in the future.

I leased it and had it for 3 years, mine was the base model. Never gave me a single problem. I really loved the car and the only thing I regret was having to give it up. I have a deposit on a new Nissan GT-R coming June. Here's my advice on the car, I'm sure other Boxster owners would agree.

I'm in the market for a 2-seater convertible. I currently have a 400hp Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo but I'm not looking to pick up another fast car. I like having a 2-seater for the convienience of not being the town taxi. I'm 6'1" but fit in one fairly well. Luggage room isn't a big deal to me, I don't need anything practical, I'm a college student. Just looking for a fun summertime cruiser that isn't going to break the bank to maintain. I don't drive like a pissed off teenager so my cars seem to last. The other cars you mentioned I was also looking into, but illgt2^ is one of my good friends and his RUF R-GT2 convinces me to get a p-car, hah.
