My New Cayman R
#37
Looks great in your garage Jon. Looks better on the roads though. Congrats, that's badass. Love the black wheels on it. Makes me tempted to make my next car a white one....
Did you manage to get a roof rack with it as well?

Thank you for all the kind words. Really pumped with this car - and having only ever seen one R in person before buying mine i wasnt even sure what it looked like to be honest - then when i saw it sitting there in the lot outside the dealership i knew this was the car. Its as cool or cooler than the Spyder visually. The black highlights all over the car make it look MEAN - esp against the white paint. Very cool car for sure
Green ones are really cool --- and if i had a daily driver i would have really thought long about getting the peridot green --- but as this is now my only car i wanted to get something more classic. Man i am glad i picked white!!!
Mods = install my Fabspeed Race Exhaust in the coming weeks & PCA sticker on the window
Differences --- well the steering wheel in this car is the "new" sport steering wheel and its so nice. I also notice that the R feels might tigher and quicker around the back roads. Maybe its just me but the R feels more capable than the Spyder -- or maybe i was just too busy enjoying the ride with the top down to notice before? Either way - both are insane driving machines and far greater than anything i can handle. I just enjoy the look and style of the car and the feeling of control and being connected to the car that this platform gives me. A+ so far....
Thanks Marc. Yes, ditched the 750 too. I am a one car kinda guy at this point in my life and really do enjoy daily driving something cool/sporty/different than the rest of the world. The 750 was a sick lux sedan for sure but not even close to as cool as this on a daily basis. As long as my knees/back can take it i will daily a sports car
I know
What can i say? I love cars - and love Porsches. Id prally be retired by now if i didnt blow all my stash on a new Porsche every 12 months. As for the farm - if i take the back way (about 7 minutes longer) to my office i pass about 20 farms. Hit 1 stop light. Its unreal!

Our cars need to meet for a beer soon. We should tag along
Thanks man. This car is head and shoulders above a Cayman S on the "cool factor" scale....but to be honest, i felt the way i feel today on the day i bought my Cayman S back in the fall of 08. I mean, both are SICK cars when compared to 99% of the other cars on the road and i consider myself truely blessed to have the chance to drive either one. Now if you want to get picky and disect each one - yea, the R is quicker/looks better/fresher interior/etc....but the Cayman S is still a nasty ride.
Thanks. I painted the garage with friends and a case of beer. I got the checkered floor from a forum sponser here on TS and installed it myself. I gathered all the art/signs/banners from various trips around the world playing with cars (Germany, Japan, etc)
No roof rack (yet). Going to use that money for snow tires
Bought it at Don Rosen Porsche in Conshohocken. Awesome place to deal with. Happy with the car thus far (182 miles)
