Spotted in Malibu, The new Porsche Cayman and Boxster testing
A little Teamspeed Exclusive from "sybang"
I took these pics in Malibu a few days ago as I mentioned in my other thread here [Slew of 991's] regarding all the new 991's. These were all spotted by the great lawn at Pepperdine University. Good thing I had my camera ready to go! Please enjoy!

New releases for the Cayman typically happen at the LA Auto Show... so November.

The new Boxster platform, in standard base & 'S' form, will not perform as good as a current Spyder at first. And perhaps equally important, it will never look as good as the current Spyder too! Regardless of whatever incremental improvements they will make in the new Boxster platform for MY2013, we will have to wait at least 3 years for a lighter, with more aggressive suspension & motor, and a unique Spyder-equivalent design of this new platform (call it the R version) before the current Spyder is truly overshadowed! That day will come...but it will not be in the first few years of the new Boxster platform! That is not the way Porsche performance models come about...they drag out their better products long after a new platform is introduced.
Of course, that is if the new Spyder (or Cayman R equivalent) is approved at all by PAG & VW. The introduction of the '550' concept could take its place. Although lighter than the current Spyder, this proposed new entry-level 550 model might never match the 'magic' of the current Spyder, perhaps due to the many cost saving measures involved (i.e. motor selected). For example, this is an issue that faces the 1M today at BMW, as it suffers in comparison to the M3. We will have to wait and see what comes down the pike. My dos centavos, of course.
