Daily Spyder?

I already commute in a Boxster. But I just stumbled over a Spyder for sale nearby. Drove it, just not on the fwy.
It is fanfreakintastic.

Am looking at the Spyder to be my daily driver, to commute 25 miles each way into the city, year round barring snow on the blacktop.

My only concern is the roof.

I'm in the Mid-atlantic of the USA, and it can be very wet here.
I also hear the roof is very noisy at speed.

Please share your experiences.

Mine is a daily driver... but I must admit that commute is nothing like yours. I live in Portland, Oregon and it's fairly mild here... just a lot of rain. I can attest that the roof is indeed watertight. My commute is only 3 miles to work and I have the luxury of having a garage at home and at work. Personally the roof noise isn't too bad on the freeway. I love my Spyder and wouldn't drive anything else, but that's just me and you have to make the final call.

With the Spyder it would be horrible. Lots of roof noise > 70.

I chose not to even consider a Spyder for weekend use, let alone daily here in VA. The weather sucks too often - too humid, too rainy, too cold, etc. The only place I could see having a Spyder as a daily driver would be in SoCal. Even then, I'd want some kind of cockpit cover for when I'm out to eat, shopping, etc. I had an S2000 when I lived in San Diego (top down every day unless it was raining) and it was fine. Stick with the Boxster S.

Not even close to true Josh. the car is just like riding in a Boxster S or S2000 etc.....the roof (when both parts are installed) is virtually the same as most verts out there - it just goes on a different way. That being said, dont install a Fabspeed Race Exhaust (like i have) and expect the same ...but at speeds up to 100+ i havent ever had an issue with noise with top up.

I think it all comes down to your tolerance level with cars. I personally dont mind low/loud/quirky cars and actually prefer them. However i do have a 750i to daily so whats that tell you?
