Road Trip in my Spyder (pics)
TS,
Took a nice road trip with my girlfriend in the Spyder last month. We headed south from Philly and traveled for 5 days covered 6 states and totalled 1,612 miles. The Spyder did great! The exhaust got a little annoying after 5 hours of 90mph cruising on I-95 the one day - but otherwise it was a blast to be in the car that much. People everywhere loved it and many took pictures and asked "what Porsche is this?" --- Really a fun time! On to the pictures.....
First stop - Chesepeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. 13 miles of bridges and tunnels that connects the eastern shore of the bay to Norfolk, VA. Really an AWESOME experience for any car guy to drive this beast. Bonus points for a convertible as you felt like you were in a boat at times (nothing but ocean/bay all around)

Next pit stop was cheesy but fun. Here the Spyder posed with Pedro for a quick picture

First stop - Charleston, SC. Our little hotel was awesome and the "town house suites" at this place are legit. Ask for one if you ever go here. Here we are pulling in...

Picture of the suite:

Cruising around Charleston's historic section was tons of fun. The Fabspeed exhaust on the car was REALLY loud (in a good way) as it rumbled down the little narrow streets. It def attracted quite a bit of attention

Next stop was Savannah, GA for 2 nights to attend a friends wedding. Night #1 was spent bar-hopping after a nice meal. Def a cool city. Then the wedding was Saturday and it was a blast. Held at the Savannah Yacht Club.

My girlfriend and I...

So then we hit the road and headed north. Ran into these dudes while stopping for gas and took some pictures

Then off to our final stop. Some relaxation time at the Umstead Resort & Spa in Cary, NC. If you have never been - highly recomend this place. 5 Diamond - 5 Star property tucked away outside of Research Triangle. We loved it!

My car was just out of sight to the left of the 458 that was parked outside our window. Later i found out that the former CEO of GSK owned the car and came to the hotel often for a snack and to stretch the legs of one of his cars.

All in All is was an awesome trip in an awesome car
Until next time.......

We did once. It started out of nowhere and you could see the drops hitting the windsheild but we werent getting wet. Then as it got heavier and heavier i sped up to keep it from getting in the cabin. Really was amazing to see the aerodynamics and enginering that went into the car when it was POURING at 85 miles per hour and we had the top down hahahaahaha. People on the highway were trippin out!
....eventually i pulled over when i could and put it up real quick (got soaked). Only to have it pass about 5 min later and go back to being 95 and sunny (dried out quikcly).
It sure was!!! Thanks for looking. Who says a little Spyder isnt a great road trip car right?

Looks like you had a wonderful time!
You make a gorgeous couple! (you and your wife,as well as you and the Spyder
)
how did your back put up with the long stretches of driving in the Spyder?
Road trips like that make the bond between man and car even tighter...great stuff!
