I think that is a very promising review for the 1M, as has been the case. I also think the comparison to the Cayman R is a bit over the top and the outcome was obvious. Two good cars in their own right, but I would not personally class them as direct competition in reality.

The more I see of the 1M, the less I think of the M3...and that says a lot about the 1M (because the M3 is a DAMN good car).

But I'd still take the Cayman R...anyday...

Beefmeister has a reputation beyond repute

Great review by Sutcliffe as always.

But one thing struck me then - the 1M sounds awful. Needs an Akrapovic stuck on it to make it sound more, well, more!!
