First new generation Cayman spyshots
Next-generation Porsche Cayman prototype sporting new features for the model
From WCF:
Next Porsche Cayman spied for the first time
Here are the first full-body spy shots available to us of a next-generation Porsche Cayman prototype caught while out doing some hot-weather testing in Spain.
Earlier shots had captured a series of mules testing but this time the prototype is the real thing.
Unfortunately, our spy photographers could not get very close but with the help of a telephoto lens we do have the benefit of this first group of pictures here.
The next-generation Cayman seen here shares some features with the current Boxster prototype and the new Cayman appears to have a lower back-end and a much larger rear window than the current mode

I was wondering what about it looked so oddly familiar, hah.
I can't say I like the design of this car, but I didn't find the last generation particularly appealing either. I am interested to hear about what's happening on the mechanical side though.

I would guess at about 350bhp out of the same engine block as the current gen. Some rumors (from someone on ts mainly), it will be a turbo 4stroke engine; however I think this won't happen for a few very good reasons.
• a turbo is too easy to tune to much higher hp, so it will too easily compete with the 911.
• porsche only just recently designed this engine block for the cayman. why would they drop the development of it for something else after only 4 years later?

You could be right, but I think possibly Porsche will offer two engines. There was a video released of a Boxster testing on the 'Ring about a month ago, and whatever was under the hood sounded turbocharged. Take a listen:

You can almost hear a turbo muffling the engine and interrupting the rev sound. That could possibly mean that Boxster had this rumored flat 4 turbo. But then again, that could just be road noise and the car hitting the bumps, because behind the muffle sounds a flat 6 in that video.
