Woah! someone stopped into Autohaus. I like your moves - i like your style

I personally think a CAyman is WAY COOLER than an M5. Its a Porsche (yes, that matters to me) and its small and sporty and fun. To most, the M5 is a 5 series. Just so happens that yours has a huge motor. But how often do you use it? And how safe/practical is it? A Cayman you can find a nice back road out in Lancaster Land and go for a spirited drive like no other.

Ok, all that being said - dont let the black with black wheels fool you (it is sick!) - wait for or hold out fo an "S"....because a base-Cayman just wont do it for you i feel. The S is so much more of a car. Trust me - i had one for 44k miles in less than 2 years as my only car. It ROCKS!

Good Luck man. Cant wait to see what you go with.

My man, as much as I usually agree with you, the above statement is a little off... While you may feel most think a "M5" is just a 5 series, I can tell you that those same people who think that way, think a Cayman is a Joke and shouldn't even be considered a Porsche (like many do regarding a boxter). So if we are taking those peoples thoughts into consideration, i would just jump off a bridge or buy a Vespa

Just to clarify I am not stating a belief regarding the Cayman or a Boxter, just arguing that your reasoning is WAY OFF!

I have had a 986 Boxster S, then a Cayman S and now on my 997.1 GT3.

I would not go with the non S at all. It would severely lack power vs your expectations

I've probably said this before but I'll say it again. Part of the appeal of the M5 is the fact that alot of people think it's just a 5 series. If I sold homes in Beverly Hills or something it would be different. If fact, someone asked me one day if it was front wheel drive. I was dumbstruck and did my best to politely correct them while trying not to laugh. As far as practical, I can fit more than one passenger, my open house signs, golf clubs, luggage, etc... The only drawback is the car performs best on the highway above 80mph so it's not like I get to use that everyday.

Ok, with the help of some other posts, it looks like I've successfully talked myself out of the Cayman for now.

you missed the point.

To most people - M5 looks like any other 5 series (because they dont know cars). To those same people, the base Cayman is no doubt a Porsche. They dont know if it was 60k or 160k. They just see the Porsche shape and design and think Porsche. Ask me how i know....

I think you are talking more about "car guys" than your normal everyday person. In the area of "car guys" i would agree more with you - but i wasnt talking about them. Just normal "i dont know anything about a car" type of people.

I also dont agree with your statement "a cayman or boxster shouldnt be a Porsche at all" --- not sure who you heard that from, but some of the most hardcore Porsche people i know own Boxsters and Caymans (and many other Porsches). Its those close-minded snobs that think only a 911 is a real Porsche that dont have a clue.

Check your facts C, then you will get international friend pics

Exactly. The S is a must in a P Car from my experience. Even the Cayenne S i owned was a sweet ride and light years ahead of the base Cayenne with the normal V6.

Jon, I think again we are not understanding each other... i am not speaking of "car" people or myself ( i personally am a huge cayman and boxter fan)... I have heard it a 100x over from people who don't know the difference between a Fiero and a Ferrari that talk trash about Cayman and Boxters... I agree at how amazing the cars handle and all that hoop-la, also as badge wearing M5 owner I also know how many people can at times mistake it for a Maybach

My facts are straight my friend
