AWE Tuning is proud to be a sponsor of TxSpeed, a Texas-based Porsche Racing Team that has started the 2011 season with an impressive seven wins in their opening weekend. Drivers Jay Matus and Kevin Mixon placed first in every race they entered at the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) Season Opener at MSR Houston, held on January 29-30. With one GTS3 National Champion title under their belt, they’re hoping to do it again this year.

The team headed to the track with their two veteran drivers, and despite the track being run in a clockwise position for the first time in NASA Texas’ history and having some weekend rainstorms, the TxSpeed team members proved their winning talent by finishing first in each of their respective classes.

Team owner, Jay Matus, competed with his 996 in the GTS4 Class, finishing the day with four total wins. Kevin Mixon, driving the team’s newest addition, a Porsche Boxster S, competed in the GTS3 Class and took home three wins. What’s even more, the TxSpeed Racing team made their first season appearance a track record-setting one, with Jay Matus’s best lap time of the weekend being 1:40.621.
