'06 Cayman S or '09 Cayman?

Hello all. I've been in the market for a Cayman for a few months now and, at the moment, I have two prospective buys. One is an '06 Cayman S and the other an '09 Cayman. They are similar in the departments of pricing, options, and mileage. I will be using the car as a daily driver. I like the looks of the '09 more due to the upgraded fascia, LED taillights, Carrera GT headlights, and the daytime running lights. I also like that it is three years younger than the '06 Cayman S. What I like about the Cayman S is the additional 30 hp and its larger engine displacement. I do suspect, however, that, due to the '06 being the first production year for the Caymans, there are some problems under the hood that may have been addressed by the time we reach the '09 Cayman. So, from every aspect, which car would be the better buy? By the way, the '06 is CPO while the '09 is standard factory warranty. I should probably also add that I don't track cars, in case that is of any importance, and the '09 I am looking at does not have a LSD.

Thanks.

'09 Cayman. No question. The improvements in the engine, interior, exterior, etc. are worth the performance difference. Also, IIRC, the '09s were German-built vs. Finnish-built. I am half-Finn, but the '07 Cayman I had was a little rattly (though a lot of fun to drive). Find a CPO'ed and LSD'ed '09 and call it a day. There should be plenty around.

09 Cayman. I just had this conversation with a potential client looking at one in CA versus ours.

Much free'er revs up and down. LED's, suspension tweaks and brake upgrades make the car feel much much more fun to drive.

Ps I have an 09 with 2500 miles on it and it's CPO.

06 Cayman S with a lightweight flywheel...I happen to know of one for sale right now =)

Depreciation on P-cars is a bitch, it makes far more sense to buy slightly older when you're waffling between two choices.

Question '09 Cayman vs. '08 Cayman S vs. '07 911

Good evening - new member here from the Harrisburg, PA area. I am doing a similar comparison, but in my case, the following:

2009 Cayman
2008 Cayman S
2007 911

I owned an 2002 Boxster S for nearly four years - always loved the crisp handling, but never made much use of the drop top, so now I'm looking only at coupes. All of the cars I'm considering range in price from low to high $40s, so price isn't a big consideration. I've driven a 6-spd example of each of these cars, and an '09 Cayman with PDK.

Hard to decide what to buy. I really like them all. The modern technology and lighting in the '09 Cayman is appealing, but I'm drawn to the greater power of the Cayman S and 911. I prefer the flickability of the Cayman over the 911, but am partial to the aesthetics and size of the 911. And most of the 911s have more options on them too, like xenons, nav, full leather, etc.

Am I overlooking any bigger issues other than what boils down to personal preference? Thanks for the help.

Ned

After thinking on it I might steer toward the Cayman S. The value for car right now is really good and the car is really good. I have spend a lot of time in 997s and CSs, both are really tough choices to turn down. The CS is a tighter fit and personally I like that!
