i would still take the Boxster Spyder over Cayman R any day.
I think it's $66K.

Arling, the thing is, where I live now, a convertible is a tough sell. Summers are so hot and humid, then there's a couple of months of nice weather, then it's literally freezing for the next 4 months, then it rains for 3 months... Not quite the best arrangement for a car that is essentially roofless. If I still lived in San Diego, I'd already have a Boxster Spyder.

That's probably a good point. Also, as my Porsche salesman told me, I really won't get much of a chance to see one on their lot as he expects their entire allocation to be pre-sold.

I agree 100% with all the GT3 comments. He stuck with the Cayman R.

^ Oh noes!!

And I second the Boxster Spyder > Cayman R comment, mostly because it is one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

History on my Spyder ordering. Right after the Spyder was unveiled at 09 LA Auto-show, I went to my dealer that Saturday, 12/12/09, the ordering banks for the Spyder open the day before (Friday) 12/11/09. The dealer got 3 allocations, they ordered their "stock car" on Friday, I ordered mine on Saturday morning, their last allocation was ordered by another customer Saturday afternoon. So all three were gone by 12/12/09, one day after the ordering banks opened.

I am thinking the Cayman R will have the same quantity of allocations per dealer with the same outcome, orders being pre-sold just like the Spyder.

Hi all...

Hey everyone,

New to this board... Ordered my Cayman R (my first Porsche) last month, Dark Blue Metallic with black full leather & PDK plus some other assorted farkles:

Exterior Color N4 Dark Blue Metallic $710
Others 519 Contrast Color Silver $0

Performance 250 Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) $3,660

Wheels 445 19" Boxster Spyder Wheel $0

Interior 573 Automatic A/C $1,760

Interior Color 21 Black Full Leather Interior with Alcantara $3,655
Interior Leather CYP Gear/PDK Lever Trim in Leather Exclusive $370
XWU PDK Lever Surround in Leather Exclusive $390
XNS Steering Column Casing in Leather Exclusive $465

585 Cupholder $0
810 Floor Mats $0
P03 Sports Bucket Seats $0

695 CDR-30 Audio System $0
870 Universal Audio Interface $0
619 Audio and Communications Bluetooth® $0

I'm trying to opt out of the non-optional "option" #519...or at least have them do it in black vs. silver. Tenatative answer from Porsche is "yes" but I have to wait for a May (!) build... If they don't go for it, the mirrors and wing will be painted body color and the vents will be painted black locally. Wheels will be powder coated black as well.

Stripe will be deleted regardless but haven't gotten confirmation on that yet.

We're also waiting on an answer re: whether or not they will install the sport mode software/switches either at the factory or right there at Porsche Zentrum in Stuttgart where I'll take delivery. Basically SC/SC+ without the "chrono" part... Hate the dash wart.
