RSS/Stuttgart Performance: 987 SPYDER “Suspension Upgrades Begin”

What a difference a day makes…

The new Boxster Spyder is arguably the most performance focused 987 to date. It boasts retro styling cues and offers considerable weight savings (especially with AC and Stereo Delete) over the standard 987 chassis.

Our customer brought us the car so we could set up it for improved track day performance as well as enhancing the visual appeal of the Spyder (Lowered ride height and more aggressive wheel offset).

One obvious issue with this car is the OE spec ride height and damper/spring combination. The ride height/fender gap is worthy of rally car mud flaps. While the out of the box handling is impressive for a factory offering, it is still a compromise in regard to performance, in this area there is always room for improvement.

BUILD Specs:
· RSS Rear Adjustable Toe Steer Kit (Part #312)
· KW Variant 3 (2-Way Adjustable) Coilovers
· RSS 7mm Spacer Kit Front Axle (Part #343/10 - Silver)
· RSS 18mm Spacer Kit Rear Axle (Part #341/10 - Silver)
· NEW: RSS Tarmac Series 2 Piece Lower Control Arms (Part#358)
“Next Round of this Build”:

Stock vs. KW V3 Coilover

Stock Toe Arm

RSS Adjustable Toe Arm

RSS Spacer Kit: Front and Rear Axle for aggressive wheel offset

Once the suspension has settled after the first track day, we will take it to the next level in precision handling by upgrading the factory lower control arms to RSS Tarmac Series 2-Piece Solid Mount LCA's (Fully Adjustable Lower Control Arms: Camber, Track Width, Caster, with Adjustable Roll Center).

Stay tuned for the next Round: RSS Tarmac Series 2-Piece Lower Control Arms...

Great car, great mod's.

Do you have base line times at the track from before the mods?

Geez, i've never been a huge Boxster fan, but this Spyder looks absolutely incredible, especially with the more aggressive offsets on the stock wheels and lowered ride height.

Agreed, was not a huge fan, but the chassis and coilover suspension combination won me over...

Talk to me more about your new LCA's...I'm looking to do a HUGE suspension overhaul this summer for my 2006 Cayman S. I see that you guys have the sway bars for sale as well. Anything else I could get from you guys? I like what RSS has done and plan to use you guys.

Keep up the good work
