Completely agree with you. If his big issue is the canvas top then he is completely missing the point. Personally, I love this car, Arctic Silver w/brown leather GT2 buckets for me please

To be completely honest, I'm thoroughly obsessed with this car and trying to persuade my dad that we should trade the 996TT towards one

I told my wife if I bought a Boxster Spyder, I'd NEVER put the roof on it. It'd be covered in the garage and taken out and flogged on sunny days...

Where do they find these Fcuknuts that write this garbage??
the WALMART of journo schools apparently.

^^ nah if it was a Walmart journo school they either wouldn't speak English or they would be against the spyder because it can do more than make left turns.

Not the best review, and doesn't seem to add up to the praise this Porsche has been getting from other auto journos and owners. The Spyder rocks!

On the other hand, Dan Neil is a pretty highly regarded auto columnist and known for stirring things up a bit. Dude won Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in '04. I'll take Chris Harris over this horse's ass any day of the week. Satch Carlson, editor-in-chief for Roundel, is probably my favorite writer.

JC, I've also tried to convince my Dad to buy this car!

He's an idiot, Porsche makes 3 versions of the Boxster to meet the different demands of their customers.

Chris- you are spot on! That's how I used my 02 Boxster S. Absolutely loved that car. Drove the new Spyder last week. If people don't get that car, they aren't hard-core car enthusiasts (hint..it's not about horsepower or 0-60 times). I will own a Spyder at some point in the future.

Dave, you know my wife as well... that's a tough sell since she's so practical, that's why I'm praying the Cayman CS/RS becomes a reality. The BS is a great car - I'd love to own one.

The car is amazing. I think the top is part of the fun. If you are trying to use this as a practical car, I think your the jerk. If I want an easy/power top I'll take my BMW out. Some people like to go against the grain I guess. Enjoy the car for what it is.
