Casey I'd love to drive one of your cars....

However as a Porsche enthusiast I have to ask; Does it really make sense to shite on Porsche (the maker of said car) or to shite on the 911?

I don't know- so I'm saying that out loud, and interested in knowing; but far to often I encounter people who spew 911 hatred are not in a position to possess such a car. The writer may very well have a 911, and if so- I stand corrected. But that even proves my point further...

... Why HATE the 911? I just don't get it. Just highlight the fantastic benefits of your kit on an already awesome platform. Perfect for someone who just 'doesn't want a 911' for what ever reason and wants a truly gorgeous hand made car.

Regardless, Kudos to you guys Casey.

I dont hate the 911... what makes you think that? The author of the article might feel that way, but we sure dont. We race GT3s. The author of the article has a white 993.

"That's hot."

Do early non-LSD cars have issues putting the power down? I spin up the inside rear in tight corners pretty frequently, I imagine with a big lump of power added it could turn into a tire eating monster.

we find better traction in properly aligned cars and cars with good bars... In a poorly set up car we find the LSD's actually do more harm than good for cornering.

a properly aligned and set up car w/ a well functioning LSD is pretty awesome.

yea he seemed to hate the 911 rather thoroughly, as far as the cayman goes, cool car, bet its a blast to drive, and ofc theyll never make a factory cayman/boxster/whatever perform as well as a 911, they're nazis and thats how they work lol, as far as the gtr/z06 comparison, imo its a totally different market, ur not gonna sway one of those customers into a porsche, its just not gonna happen, and yea he prob hates 911's since 993's were the worst ones ever made lol

???

That part of your statement would be 100% inaccurate. I have several clients who have BOTH a GTR and a Porsche. To assume one wouldn't shop the other car would be nieve...

I even have a client who has a C6 Z06 & Boxster S (987 chassis). As well as I've sold several former 'Vette owners, Porsche's.

It's the same client. (aka Car Enthusiast)

I disagree. There's a lot I like about the Cayman, but I wouldn't buy one, simply because the performance falls so far below those competitors. That's less a design flaw of the Cayman than a deliberate intent to avoid cannibalization of 911 sales, which is a rather short-sighted view. It seems as though Porsche start with the halo model, the GT2, then work down the performance ladder to the Turbo/GT3 (which have similar overall performance, albeit focused in different areas), the 911 variants, then the Cayman/Boxster end. The result is a set of cars at the lower end that are drastically slower than they could be.

I love the 911, with all its quirks, but I wish Porsche would just allow each platform to live up to its potential. I could never buy a car I knew could have been so much better, and the Cayman has all the ingredients to outperform a Z06/GT-R (mid-engined, lightweight, modern chassis). Given the horsepower (not hard to achieve these days), and the chassis set up (Porsche know this better than anyone), the Cayman would be brutal. Price it at 80k, and they'd fly off the shelves.
