Beautiful 1961 Bentley S2 Continental Park Ward Drophead
--Raven Black with Tan leather interior, Tan carpeting and Tan Top, Restored, Numbers Matching, V8, Automatic Transmission.
Park Ward was solely responsible for the Continental Drop Head Coupe. Crewe commissioned freelance designer Vilhelm Koren for the concept. The result, design 991, was exceptionally modern and quite striking. The exterior featured a straight-through wing line, headlamps placed in the apex of the front wings, fins at the rear and a wrap-around front screen. The interior was also radical, seeing the gauges centered into a driver’s cluster and leather treatment above and below the dash.
The S2 Continental is powered by a 6.2liter V8, 4-speed automatic transmission and is only one of 125 LHD units built.
This Bentley has been meticulously restored and cared for. Between 1996 and today over $100,000 has been spent on its restoration. Receipts and photo document its bare metal repaint, engine and transmission rebuilds, rebuilding of the complete brake system, rebuilding of the fuel system, rebuilding of suspension, stainless steel exhaust system as well as its complete new interior & convertible top. It also benefits from Power steering, power brakes, power top and an up rated McIntosh stereo system.
This Bentley Continental is a pleasurable and stylish car luxury convertible for around town use as well as high-speed cruising. Attractively and tastefully finished, the Bentley S2 Continental Park Ward Drophead Coupe is a desirable and important post-war example of the legendary marque.
