Conti GT was the first attempt to atract new buyers and to have cash flowing in and Bentley enjoyed success, same thing happened with Lamborghini Gallardo.
New Mulsanne is absolutely bespoke and is developed from the clean sheet of paper. New Conti GT, which is about to due in late 2010, will have have reworked chassis from the new A8 and some tech innovation as well, but exterior and interior will be bespoke and it will not share not even single part with other VAG marques.
That is just timing, that time was a time of an easy cash and huge demand, today customers need not only brand, but bespoke style, perfect specs and the want to feel that the car is really worth the price they pay for it.
