Cool SUN'N'FUN Pics and Destruction.

So I ended up going to SUN'N'FUN last weekend. I flew up on Saturday and Sunday for the airshow. Unfortunately I did not get too many pictures. However, there are tons of pictures of the unfortunate events that took place before the weekend.

For those of you that don't know, a tornado and powerful storm ripped through the airshow and destroyed many airplanes and exhibitions. This was truly heartbreaking to see, as I know what these airplanes mean to some of these people, and what they went through to build them. One guy had built his airplane over the last 8 years with his son, and it was destroyed in seconds at the air show.

Thankfully no one was seriously injured at the show. After the storm there was much cleanup to be done. They did a great job cleaning up the place, and it was a great show on the weekend. Enjoy the few pics I have.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Total noob here, so please forgive me. Did the tornado only "pick up" the lighter planes, or where the larger planes secured to the ground somehow?

Every plane was supposedly secured to the ground. In one of the pictures you can see a plane torn up but the wings still tied to the ground. Most of the planes that got tossed around are the high wing planes. The wind has a bigger chance at lifting one of those up off the ground. However, most of the heavy planes didn't move. It was mainly all the light planes that were tossed around, although a DC-3 was blown into a ditch and that's a huge heavy airplane.

No one was seriously injured. I believe about 7 people ended up in the hospital though.

It is tough to see people's hard work get decimated like that.

It really is Phenomenal. It's a great airplane, that has some of the most amazing features. Seeing it side by side with the CJ4, the phenom takes the cake. In however the CJ4's interior is a bit more refined, but smaller.
