Helicopter Training

I've been thinking about getting my Heli license recently. Anybody have theirs? Any recommendations for schools in the LA area?

How about these guys?

I'm not a licensed fling wing guy, but I've done a fair amount of sitting in the seat pulling the levers. It is a BLAST, but very pricey. Are you seeking this as a career thing?
I was the pyro technics guy for this group: www.armyav.org
Got to fly front seat in a Cobra, and actually fly Huey's. Amazing stuff.

Thanks for the links. Not looking to do this for career, just for fun.

Enjoy! My dad and I started building a single seat turbine helicopter a couple years ago, but time constraints forced us to sell it. If you can go that route, the costs won't be as bad.

Always had a fascination with helicopters, I have a decent amount of simulation hours.

Sikorsky factory is 30 mins from my house.

Helicopter Training

I started taking helicopter lessons last month. I am having a blast, but dang, it is hard. The flying part is not so bad, but all of the topics you have to learn.

I had never flown myself before, but I have been around aviation my whole life. In fact, I even own a jet that someone else flies, but I had no idea you had to learn so much. I'm in overload right now.

Wow that's great chuck, welcome!

Buddy of mine in SF is in training now as well, cept he's looking to make a career move out of it. He's planning on continuing on with enough hours to make his instructors certifications as well.

I've been really wanting to try this ... Here in Dallas you can get your recreational use license in about 8 months and for $15K.

I've got my eye on an R44 but for every praise I read about the thing there is someone else telling you to run away from it ??
