Great A-!0 War Story
This is a pretty cool story about a pilot that got shot over Iraq and flew her plane back to base. It's worth a read. She receive the Distinguished Flying Cross for her actions.

As someone who has employed the services of an A10 jockey, I never get tired of hearing the exploits of these pilots. I maintain that they are the finest in the Air Force. The go low and slow and bring lots of love with them. Their job is to put themselves in the line of fire, to save you, the man on the ground. And boy do they do it well.
This is a great story.

+1, ...and loiter for long periods even after out of ammo to make sure you're good to go. I dig the A10, can take a serious beating and our enemies feared them like nothing else. Between them and Spectres, there is just allot of love to around ;-)
(great story!)

Nice story!!
Don't get me wrong but to me the A10s could as well belong to the Army
and I mean it in a good way, since they are - just as choke said - closer to the battle than any other USAF aircraft...
and as far as I know they are mostly used for close air support and really fight along the battle line and react to incoming calls from ground units
well done!
