Great Air Traffic Controllers
Listen to some of the tapes at the end of the article. Nice to know controllers are such qualified pilots. The main story about the VFR pilot looking for a hole down is pretty good.

Yeah, these awards are well deserved. As someone who has declared an emergency, at night, low on fuel, with an undercast layer fouling things up....I can tell you first hand how great it is to have someone on the other end of that radio helping you get down safely.

I think it's so comforting to know that you can expect that on the other end. I guess next time when you call up and ask for direct and don't get it, you'll still have a smile on your face.
