RIP: Gord Aust
One of the best men I've ever known.
Gordon Thomas Aust
AUST, Gordon Thomas - Born in Toronto on October 28, 1940, the son of Laural and Forster Aust, Gord passed away peacefully on April 30, 2009. Gord will be greatly missed by his wife Patricia, sons Kevin and Brian, Brian's wife Lisa and grandson Reid William, also by his brother David and his wife Anne of Calgary. Gord was a pilot and engineer whose career in aviation spanned 50 years. He worked for Leavens Bros. in Toronto for many years. After receiving his Helicopter license, he spent 25 years with Ontario Hydro in North Bay and Toronto. After retirement, he flew fixed wing and helicopters. He loved to travel -- to Austria for skiing and later to Florida and New Zealand. His hobby was remote control aircrafts and he was a member of The Burlington Club. Gord kept his own J3 CUB at Burlington Airpark. Gord had a very outgoing nature and will be fondly remembered by his family, many friends and those he helped along the way. Cremation has taken place. Please join the family for a Memorial Gathering at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME
Had an Airbus driver in my right hand seat for this formation. I'm the big plane, bringin' up the rear.

The amazing thing was what happened with the weather. The day started off nice, then it got cloudy and ugly. Then, when it was time to do the flight, the weather cleared up pretty decently, and then when we were done it got ugly again. That was Gord pulling some strings for us!
