I have. In a glider.

I'm hoping this was a situation where the pilot did the math and figured out how quickly the plane would be rolling after X feet, and concluded he'd have lift, versus a "hold my beer and watch this" moment.

Isn't there a possibility that at such a steep slope the plane might flip forward prior to being airborne??

I am sure there are better ways to prepare for the "eventuality" of a deadstick than this, at least for the non-thrill seekers. :S
