Avemco can go F themselves...

So I've hinted around on here that I'm in the process of buying a Cessna 310 twin. I got a quote from Avemco and AOPA Insurance. Avemco beat AOPA by HALF, so naturally I chose to go with them and budgeted accordingly.

Today, I call them to bind coverage. "Uh, sorry sir. That quote is incorrect. Instead of $3k per year it's going to be $8k per year."

Are you kidding me????

And they won't budge. Their error, they admit it. But the quote is more than 30 days old so they won't honor it.

At least the AOPA quote is "only" $6k/year. Guess I'll be going with them unless any of you aircraft owners can recommend anyone else. Unfortunately, the way the underwriters lock the market by N number, I don't think I'll be able to get much better.

Avemco is dead to me.

6k is pretty good for an old twin. I'm over 4k for a newer 182.

I don't know if this will help you, but I've used nationair almost from day one. You might try Jenny the account executive for the light aircraft branch. jestes@nationair.com[/email] or call 877-475-5860.

No problem, Their rates are usually competitive, but if you have a claim I doubt anyone will handle it better.
