You're absolutely right. The GTO is my favorite car but TBH the LFA sounds better and IMO the interior is a bit more "spectacular". But, again, you cannot compare the LFA and the GTO. I know both of them are front engined rear wheel drive but one of them is a super car that bites if you're not concentrating and the other one is a luxurious GT car which is astonishingly fast round a circuit. IMO the engine of the LFA is a masterpiece but if I had the choice I would get the GTO or save and work harder to get both .

What's stupid is listing "sound" as the first plus point when judging a super-car.

Like I've said before, the LFA would be a great car if it cost no more than $250k.

i would agree with you if i was shopping for a daily driver for a soccor mom... but were talking about supercars.

supercars are not about sensible rational checklists and comparing statistical figures, or performance per dollar. supercars are about art, passion, emotion, and just generally being outrageous.

the first thing i stated is that the performance ability of each car is beyond 99% of the drivers, so that is a moot issue. once you remove performance from the equation, you are left with only a few other things to decide your purchase on.... things like exclusivity, collectibility, driving experience, depreciation, status, heritage, sound, maintenance, interior, craftsmanship, and more etc etc, and all of these factors vary in importance depending on the buyers own preferences. i simply listed the things that would influence my own buying decision regarding those two cars.

IMO, many true supercar enthusiasts do not buy a car because of statistical data or worrying about what brand logo it carries... it is about emotional response to the car itself... it just stirs something within them... they feel a passion about the car.... and i honestly believe that the sound of a car plays a very large part of that effect.

all the numbers and data and price tag and all that other crap quickly fades away when youre actually enjoying the car itself... the real experience and love of the car comes from simple things you are left with... its raw feeling, power, control, and sound.

i was a bit harsh earlier, im sure youre not stupid, maybe you are just a very analytical type.
maybe you have more fun comparing spreadsheets and technical specifications, or having status/branding is more important to you.

People who follow their emotions when buying a supercar are those who have enough money not to worry about it. If you say I'm analytical then you are correct. This means I actually compare my options and make an informed decision and do not spend my money on a car which breaks a glass cup with its exhaust and name it as my number one reason for my purchase. If you buy an LFA I wouldn't criticize you, to each his own, but don't tell people that your car is better than an Aventador.

I feel guilty because this thread has been hijacked. Let us wait for the video and take it at face value.

Oh, and thank you for the retraction. I can sleep better tonight.

My thoughts exactly... I'm fairly certain this is the largest percentage of $250k+ supercar owners... supercars are a indulgence based on emotion, not rationalization.

*sigh* you either either skimmed my post, or are just poor at reading comprehension.

i compared options/features as well... the ones important to me are just different than whats important to you.

i clearly stated i was taking performance out of the equation, yet you cant seem to get past that. my bullet points were not listed in order of importance, so sound is not a "number one" reason, but it is definitely important to many enthusiasts. you have yet to refute that in any way.

once again, you show tunnel vision when it comes to understanding what constitutes "better"

"better" is a relative term, depending on what the owners personal preferences are.

you are taking one aspect about the cars (ultimate performance) and assuming everyone places that as the number 1 value when considering which car is "better".

if everyone thought like you did, then no one would purchase an F40, Zonda, Diablo, etc, because there are "better" cars available for the money now.

This. Too many people get caught up in the numbers these days and can't just appreciate the cars for what they are anymore. Both are great cars in different ways.
