Manual Gallardo Spyder '12

Hey guys,

I visited the lambo dealership today and fell in love with gallardo Bi-colore.
I initially wanted to check out a new '12 Manual Gallardo spyder in blue which is also sublime.

The dealership was able to give me a really good deal on both cars and im still wondering which car would be the best to buy ? The manual gallardo is a MANUAL gallardo and is amazing to drive but it does not look as nice as the bi colore , the price diference between both cars is around 40k in Euros but that doesn't really matter for these kinda cars

I know everyone is going to say hands down the manual transmission but id like to get some opinions from maybe owners or people who have had experience with manual gallardos

This would obviously be a weekend and special occasions car

I also checked out the new mclaren in black with the full carbon package and that thing is out of this world , unfortunately the only delivery option right now is 3rd Q 2012

I went from a manual 360 spyder, something i think has a hardcore gearbox (more so than an LP560) to an E-Gear and wouldn't go back to manual unless it was a Porsche.

You own an LP560-4 so you have the perfect answer to this question :

Do you ever get bored of he tiptronic transmission ?

I feel as if although the automatic transmission makes driving 100x easier , the testosterone rush one gets when manually shifting through gears is sooo worth it.

Manual works well if you doby have problem with the narrow footwell.

If you want the bi color with manual, maybe search inventory to see if there is one in the us dealer. I would not get the spyder unless thats what you want because coupes are already heavy as is.

I have a Gallardo SE all with six speed, and have driven a bunch of the E Gear Gallardos, even the 550 and 570-4 - I'd go six speed every time, I really don't enjoy the E-Gear. The E-Gear execution is fine (if a bit clunky in race mode around town), but it just robs a lot of fun. The six speed shifter in the gate is awesome on the Gallardo, shifting is soooo much fun, and nothing like the joy of getting heel and toe downshifts smooth and then rowing up through the gears again.

I had a 360 and a 430 with six speed too, they were a bit challenging to balance and shift smoothly (oddly, for different reasons - the 360 had a very light flywheel and revs dropped so fast when shifting, the 430 RPMs would actually kind of "float" when you shifted). That said, I still really loved both of them and the 430 with a 6 speed came seriously ALIVE on the track.

The Gallardo, however, shifts much more smoothly, and is a more enjoyable 6 speed than either of the Ferraris. A true classic transmission and feel, a shame they are killing it off.

If it's for the weekend and special occasions manual every time.

E Gear in the 560-4 is pretty good but not a must have.

It's too bad Lamborghini wont be doing the manual box much longer. Perhaps the new E gear has improved substantially, back when I was shopping for my Murcie I did back to back test drives in an E Gear and a 6 speed....There was no comparison. The connection you feel to the car while rowing through the gears is just....awesome.
